At DTU Physics we focus our research on areas of modern physics, which we feel combine a major scientific challenge with obvious application potentials in the industry or in the public sector.
The Department of Physics attracts highly qualified and motivated researchers, lecturers and students from all over the world. Research is conducted by a staff consisting of 25 faculty members, approximately 20 post-doctoral fellows, a large number of visiting scientists and more than 40 PhD students – all of whom contribute to our innovative research environment.
The PhD programme takes 3 years to complete and is specifically designed to train researchers to an international level which will allow them to interact with the international research community. The PhD programme is a learning process through which the PhD student learns to perform research under guidance. It is therefore vital that the E&R advisor and the PhD candidate know each other before the programme begins. The language of instruction is English or Danish.
Who can become a PhD Student?
National as well as international candidates may apply for the program. We are looking for highly qualified candidates with high grades and a focused interest in research. Likely candidates may come from the ranks of civil engineers or have degrees in e.g. physics, biology, or mathematics.
